In the middle of the Serra de Monchique, a gentle hilly landscape between the south and west coast (the Algarve), lies the Quinta das Relvinhas - away from the hustle and bustle of tourism. With attention to detail, we have renovated the 19th century property with its stately charm and converted it into a guest house.
The quinta has been owned by the Peschke family for over 30 years, who still run it today and who, together with their young, dedicated and friendly team, welcome you to Monchique. The familiar, personal atmosphere will make you feel at home with us.
Our Portuguese country house is located at the foot of the Foia, which with its 900m height is also called the "roof of the Algarve". The quinta itself is about 495 m above sea level, which means that the climate here is consistently mild. The south and west coast are only about 35 km away. A ten-minute walk takes you through the narrow, cobbled streets into the center of Monchique.
The property is embedded in a spacious, natural complex with a salt water pool, sunbathing and orchards, citrus trees and cozy arbors. The winter garden as well as the billiard and fireplace room (?) Offer you a cozy setting for evening conversations.
With its fertile mountain slopes and fragrant pine and eucalyptus forests, the Serra de Monchique forms an impressive contrast to the barren vegetation of the nearby Atlantic coast. The tranquil Monchique is known for its handicrafts, textiles, ceramic products and wood carvings. In addition, small boutiques, taverns and rustic restaurants invite you to stroll and linger. The mountainous landscape of Monchique is a place of rest and relaxation as well as a wonderful starting point for a sporty and eventful holiday.
At the quinta we were able to relax the very well. Very nice, clean rooms, suitable for beds, the best food (!), Great location in the Monchique Mountains, yoga in the morning with Annie, quickly warmed up every time in the pool, then with the other guests - both children and parents - decide to go to the beach today: south or west coast, all dreamy beaches and well worth a visit. Frank & Janine are very hospitable and have put together a great team from Quinta. A very pleasant place. Ideal for a real vacation!
